Here in Syndicode most of our designers prefer Sketch. Obviously, they have some reasons for this (like the ease of use, shared styles or boolean operations). But there are also many other tools will help a designer with prototyping. And we think that broadening our knowledge base helps us become more proficient. Read about 8 prototyping tools for designer.
Major trends in recent updates for different prototyping tools include improving team workflows between designers and developers and improvements in overall team experience. Team experience means, first of all, commenting and collaboration. You might know some of them, and now we’ll tell you what updates these tools received in 2017. Here they are:
is a quite popular tool among designers. This interface design tool based in the browser, making it easier for teams to create software
In addition to multi-player editing, Figma brings two major updates this time around: Prototyping and Developer Handoff. You can create simple prototypes connecting screens in addition to live collaboration. As far as it’s web based, you can work with both PC and Mac teammates
is a lightweight tool with an easy learning curve to create complex nuanced interactions. Principle adds improved Sketch import, the ability to send events from a component to its parent, or vice-versa, ability to control color in the drivers, lockable layers, and animation preview
is a good tool for any web or mobile app: you can define websites and apps for Web, iOS, and Android with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. No code involved. In the latest update a design inspector built for developers: Justinmind’s developer-friendly UI. Some feature improvements include enhanced Sketch integration, grouping elements via Master for global changes and much more
- Adobe XD
Since Adobe XD focuses on user interface design, you’ll find image-editing tools virtually non-existent, so the app’s interface is much less overwhelming in comparison to other Adobe apps. This year updates: Asset Panel, which conveniently organizes all the symbols, colors and character styles in your document for quick access and reuse. Also improved performance with 320 Artboards
Balsamiq Mockups is a rapid wireframing tool that reproduces the experience of sketching on a whiteboard but using a computer. This year it received updates that include controls that are useful for mobile interfaces mockups (and long scrolling screens) as well as font library integration
It gives designers and developers the power to design, build, and launch responsive websites visually, while writing clean, semantic code for you. Check version 2.0 updates
Framer studio is a free interactive prototyping tool that made for the non-coder in mind. As one of Facebook’s key prototyping tools, it’s worth checking out and includes great Sketch integration
Flinto is a very fast tool that lets designers quickly make interactive prototypes of their mobile, desktop, or web apps. New updates allow you to type and edit text directly in Flinto for Mac. Editable text also comes through when importing from Sketch. The size and color of text are now animatable properties
That’s all for today. We’d like to hear your feedback if you ever used some of these tools.
