The web is simply impossible without CSS. But what’s going on in the field? Today you have a wonderful opportunity to read about the State of CSS 2019 and which CSS features developers use the most and which tools are gaining more adoption.

Again, if you forget, CSS is a language that describes the style of an HTML document. It shows how HTML elements should be displayed.

The State of CSS Survey was created by Sacha Greif – responsible for the design, writing, and coding and Raphaël Benitte – responsible for data analysis and data visualizations.

This first State of CSS survey reached 11,307 people in 135 different countries. This is only a small part of the overall CSS developer community, but for a first edition, it’s a great result. Typography is probably the most important feature added, and CSS is still working on its support for typographical features.

You can skip some of the survey questions, so there could be fewer answers. But the developers added indicators to each question to let you know which proportion of total respondents answered it. That’s clever!

Try it, you can download the raw JSON data for this survey here and read more on the State.

Don’t miss the chance to meet the CSS handbook by Flavio Copes on our blog. Stay tuned!
