Web & mobile assistant for surgeons
Digital surgeon assistant
All-in-one platform that helps surgeon during the operation

About the project
Our client is a Switzerland-based company creating a digital assistant for surgeons based on the best practices of military aviation.
The company helps to optimize the operation process and organize all the necessary information for surgeons and the medical staff.
The digital assistant helps minimize preparation and paperwork so doctors can focus on saving the lives of their patients.
The main goals of the product are to significantly improve standards in operations and to train surgeons better.
Our client came to Syndicode with a need to accelerate the backend and frontend development of the digital doctor app.
The app consists of two parts – a web app for comprehensive planning and an IOS app that accompanies the operation. In 2020, this web & mobile app is practically applied in training and actual operations.

Highlights
-
Solution delivered
Syndicode has provided custom software development services to the client. With a web platform, a surgeon plans the upcoming operation, backend obtains data for iOS and Web, and the IOS platform assists in the actual operation.
-
Challenges overcomed
The main challenge was creating a product that affects human lives. It was crucial for the Syndicode team to delve deep into the surgical operations process and to consider each feature of the app meticulously. The result is software that helps surgeons and medical staff to be more productive.
-
Value added
Currently, the digital assistant is practically applied in training and actual operations. In addition, the Inselspital center in Switzerland has training operating rooms where students use the app in practice.
-
8 unique features
- Library of Standard Operation Templates
- Step-by-step Operation Planning
- Intra-OP navigation in Operational Theatre via iPad
- Operation Analysis – History, Estimated vs Actual time spent
- Automated Generation of Operation Reports
- Incidents Reporting
- Nurse Preparation Planning
- Work-Placed Assessment
-
Calendar of scheduled operations
With this web & mobile app, doctors can plan their operations ahead and instantly access the detailed info about each.
This significantly increases transparency and consistency in the OP process.
-
Template library of standard operations
The standard operations template library helps reduce preparation in times and plan better.
Moreover, this feature adds a structured, systematic, and well-documented approach to the OP process.
By allowing surgeons to choose a ready-made protocol, the library reduces the chance of accidental inconsistencies.
-
History of operations
Digital assistant stores the data about all conducted operations in one single system.
Here, surgeons can access info about the duration, a number of incidents, and – another crucial index – average delay per operation.
-
Incident report form
In military aviation, pilots record every case of even a minor oversight.
This platform uses the same approach for OP planning, execution, and reporting.
Each incident is detailly described and stored in the database so doctors can familiarize and draw conclusions.
